Council Meeting

Monday, April 7, 2003

1.         Minutes of the meeting of March, 2003 presented for approval.  Irene Hooper stated that the Dillard property was appraised at $1000.00 and not $500.00 as in the minutes.  Moved approval (Iobst/ Wallace) of the corrected minutes.  Unanimous.

2.         Sheriff Jim Ashe presented a 50 minute dialog concerning his personal background and his goals as Sheriff of Jackson County.          

3.         James Weir presented the Budget for 2003-04.  Budget committee consisted of Dick Iobst (chrm), Gene Tweedy, Sue Burton, and Jim Weir.  Moved approval  (Iobst / Burton)  for setting the  hearing  date for considering the Budget for the Council Meeting in June, 2003.  Unanimous.  Requested that the Village Clerk, Mary Ann Budahl, place this information in the Sylva Herald.  (Jay Coward explained the difference between a financial report and the budget.)

4.         Iobst stated that Council Positions of Joe Rossano and Sue Burton and Mayor Position of Jim Davis would terminate this year and that these positions must be on the Jackson County ballot in November.

5.         Irene Hooper informed the Council that Dale Brotherton said that he would accept a position on the Greenway Commission if his nomination was approved by the Council.  Moved and seconded (Iobst/Burton) that Dale Brotherton be the third Village representative for the Greenway Commission of Jackson County.  Unanimous.

6.         Motion (Iobst/Wallace) to Continue the Agenda of the Council of the Village of Forest Hills on April 14, 2003.  Unanimous.  The Mayor recessed the Council until 7:00 PM, April 14, 2003.
