November Minutes-2005

The Village of Forest Hills Council Meeting Minutes

                        Monday, November 7, 2005

                        University Inn Motel

In attendance: Mayor Davis, Jim Wallace, Sue Burton, Jim Weir, Dick Iobst (absent) Joe Rosano (absent).  Village residents, Mrs. Weir, Gene Tweedy, Samantha Blanton (Sylva Herald).

The meeting was called to order by Mayor Davis.  He welcomed all present and led the group in a short prayer.

Mayor Davis gave the financial report as Jim Weir was out of town.  A motion was made and seconded to accept the report.

It was decided to have a Christmas Reception for the Village.  It will be held at the Inn on December 11th.   Fran and Linda volunteered to do the decorations again.  It was also decided to have a Christmas Light Contest again.

Tony Rigdon will start talking with residents on North Country Club Drive this week regarding the right of way.

Jim Wallace will send a letter to all of the residents on NCCD informing that Mr. Rigdon will be coming by to talk with them.  A report will be given to the Council members when the survey is complete.  The council will know who gave approval and who did not.  A motion was made and seconded to send the letter as written by Jim Wallace.

It was decided that minutes from the Village Planning Board should be given to the Council for information and record keeping.

Rosemary Bauer and Sue Heckert were present to discuss a problem within the Oak Forest Community.  A resident who owns a house on Virginia Lane (which is within and covered by the Village boundaries), is now renting to students, and plans to add to the dwelling for more rental units.  This would violate the Oak Forest by-laws and also be in violation of the Village’s ordinance concerning multiple dwelling.  The Council will look into the situation and decide what will be done.

Mayor Davis suggested that everyone should do their duty and go out and vote.

A motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting.
